Who is Lex Green?

In these difficult times that we find ourselves in, my husband Lex Green decided to run as a candidate for the Governorship of Illinois. What started as just talk has become a reality, and I find myself supporting my husband as he offers to serve this great state. Let me start out by giving you some general information about Lex.

Lex was born and raised in Illinois, and has lived in McLean County most of his life except for a few years he spent working in suburban Cook County. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1972 as a member of the National Honor Society and a letterman in cross country. He was a Boy Scout reaching the rank of Star. He attended one year at Illinois Wesleyan University before entering an apprenticeship to become an electrician and earned a degree in Electronic Technology at Illinois Central College. Lex is employed at the Mitsubishi Motors automobile factory in Normal Illinois. He also works part time as Associate Producer of the internet entertainment show, Hook and Hunt TV, and an associate at Starlight Software Systems.

Lex's love and passion for American History has led to his involvement in politics, especially the politics of freedom. At the beginning of the recent grassroots movements, we both became active members of the Bloomington Area 912 Project, the McLean County Campaign for Liberty, as well as the founders of the McLean County Freedom Coalition and have put a lot of time into various local events and tea parties. Lex is also the secretary of the McLean County Libertarian Party and a member of the Libertarian Party of Illinois.

But "who is Lex Green"? Like most of us, he is just a regular citizen, who goes to work every day to pay his bills and take care of his family. He loves to frustrate himself by playing golf, is obsessed with fishing, and enjoys most anything having to do with the outdoors.

"However, there is more to Lex than what I just told you". He is the kind of person you will find mowing the neighbors yard or blowing the snow off their driveway when they are sick or gone on vacation, or sometimes just because he wants to. He is a principled man who lives by example, and is firmly planted and consistent in his belief of applying honesty, integrity and common sense to everyday life. Lex is a very intelligent man, and when serious, he is a "no-nonsense, cut to the chase and get down to the brass tacks kind of guy". Lex has the uncanny ability to see what is coming before most of us know what hit us. He plays well with others, and is well respected by those who know him, whether it be good friends or casual acquaintances. He is a jack of all trades, (which really comes in handy at home), and if he does not possess the knowledge to fix something, or to solve a problem, he will search to find any source he can find to help him master the challenge. Lex is strong and reserved, yet at the same time he is kind and compassionate. I will have to say that by no means is Lex perfect, I just happen to know his strengths, and weaknesses. He is truly a good man.

Why is Lex running for Governor of Illinois?

This is a good question and I asked him "why" at least 22 times! The first thing you need to know is that he is not a politician, and he is not going to tell you what he thinks you want to hear. When Lex first told me he was considering running for Governor of Illinois, I realized that Lex knew that he possessed the strength, wisdom and the character that is necessary to be a leader and turn our state around, and to stand up to the corrupt politicians that currently have all the power and control in our state. Lex has always been consistent in his beliefs of "Life, Liberty and Property" and the responsibilities that go hand in hand with "Freedom". If Lex can apply his ideology to everyday life, then he can also use that ideology to offer the people and businesses of Illinois the opportunities to grow and flourish.

He feels that if we, as responsible people have to balance our checkbook and live within our means, then so should the legislatures of our state. One of Lex's primary goals is to put a stop to the irresponsible spending, and bring prosperity to its Citizens. As Governor, he may not be able to write the laws, but he sure can veto all laws that are unconstitutional and that go against individual liberties. He is a true fiscal conservative and feels that it is wrong for our state government to continue to overspend, overtax, and over-regulate; then place that burden on the back of the people of Illinois.

If you believe in Lex's vision for Illinois, and want to see a better life for all individual citizens of Illinois, please help him on his journey and let's "Elect Lex" for Governor of Illinois in 2010!

P.S. Please consider making a contribution to the campaign. Even a small donation will help us spread the message of freedom and prosperity for the citizens of Illinois.

Sincerely,

Karen Green
